What's an ITIN?
If you're wondering how to file taxes without a Social Security Number, keep reading to find out about ITINS and their role in our tax...
The Dreamers' Tax Project is a nonprofit organization based in Washington committed to giving back to its community. As second-generation immigrants, founders Lora Kwon, Isha Mehta, and Akshita Kikkuru recognize the important role that immigrants play in the United States and wish to help these individuals make the best of their situation. The Dreamers' Tax Project is a state-level tax-exempt organization under the nonprofit corporation Kwon's Dream.
An estimated 50%-70% of unauthorized workers file their taxes every year (Congressional Budget Office). This is because anyone with a substantial presence in the United States is automatically considered a resident, and all residents, including those who are undocumented, are required to abide by federal tax laws. In addition, those applying for immigration benefits and/or naturalized citizenship often need a history of paid taxes as proof of good moral character in immigration court. The Dreamers' Tax Project aims to help undocumented residents file their tax returns in an effort to make sure more individuals can eventually gain the immigration benefits they need. We can help you and your family obtain ITINS, fill out basic tax forms, set up appointments with the IRS, and file all returns. Additionally, our tax experts provide advice on how to maximize your return. Our services are available in English and Spanish, but feel free to contact us even if you are unsure whether we can help you or your family.
The Dreamers' Tax Project loves working with local and national organizations to better our services and reach more immigrant communities throughout Washington state.
